Treecyclers Team
Nathan Schomber

Woodworker-artist, Sawyer, Wilderness Educator, Founding Visionary
The son of a carpenter and wood craftsman, Nathan has been working with wood since childhood. Practically growing up in the woodshop and the forest, he has always had a love for all things wood and trees. He is a furniture maker, wilderness earth skills instructor, traditional bow maker, and artist working in wood carving, as well as a Woodmizer sawmill operator. Nathan owns and manages Woodsmith Portable Mill Service, LLC, based in the Greater Asheville area, and is also the founder of the Asheville Treecyclers. Nathan brings to Asheville Treecyclers a passion for the cooperative effort of reusing a waste source in an educational, artistic, profitable and sustainable manner. Nathan lives with his wife and two young daughters in the beautiful mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina.
William Tilson

Woodworker, Organizer, Anchor
William (Bill) has a technical background working for the telecommunication industry and as an independent consultant for more than a decade. While living in Florida during the “boom” years of the late 80’s and through the 90’s, the desire for a more hands-on approach brought about a shift to the construction fields. For the last 15 years he has pursued many diverse construction projects, both commercial and residential. Seeking balance, he also pursues the esoteric/intangible through poetry, contemplation, Martial Arts and looking for scientific and spiritual understanding of the human condition. More recently he has relocated to Western North Carolina to pursue a business partnership with the start-up of Asheville Treecyclers. Throughout these years, an enduring passion with wood as a hobby craftsman has had an opportunity to give way to something greater. He believes the spirit and vision of Asheville Treecyclers to have a positive impact on the environment, cooperative business, and local mountain woodworkers.

He has also worked as a web designer, a graphic designer, a photographer, and a project manager. Aaron’s personal values figure strongly in his projects and his life-path. He is a community organizer and has experience in cooperative living and political organizing. He prioritizes his family including his 2 year-old son, Asher.
